£23000 spent by Leicester City Council on art work at City Centre Pedestrian Crossings.
As Leicester City Council have spent £23,000 recently commissioning new artwork on existing pedestrian crossings on Charles Street, by the City Hall, Aylestone Wards Liberal Democrat Opposition Leader Councillor Nigel Porter commented to the Leicester Mercury:
"We all like art and appreciate nice designs but I don't think the council should be splashing the cash on repainting crossings like this at a time when people are losing their jobs left right and centre.
"It's a very colourful waste of public money.
"Surely right now there are better things the council could be spending its money on right now."
