4th Successful Residents Petition by Eyres Monsell Ward Liberal Democrat Campaigners since 2009 to Leicester City Council. Roche Close, Eyres Monsell parking facilities
Leicester City Liberal Democrats' Eyres Monsell Ward campaigners are celebrating another successful residents petition to Leicester City Council after work was completed recently providing better parking facilities for residents of Roche Close.
In 2012 Focus team members were contacted by residents complaining they had difficulties accessing the cul-de-sac for their own vehicles in addition further problems arising when emergency services and refuse vehicles may be required.
A street survey found 66% of responders had difficulty accessing the close daytime increasing to 100% in the evening.
On November 22nd, 2012 Leicester City Council Full Council Meeting was presented with a petition by local campaigners on behalf of residents. In July 2013 Liberal Democrat petitioners were informed Roche Close would be placed on the "Transport and Local Environmental Works Scheme". Although the first attempt was unsuccessful the Council informed Roche Close would remain on the scheme for future consideration.
Work was eventually completed during December 2015.
Residents of Riche Close have been contacted by Focus a Team members by letter "hoping the completed work will be beneficial in a Roche Close and that the petition highlighted the need for residents in the cul-de-sac."
This was the 4th successful petition the Eyres Monsell team have been involved with since 2009. Previous petition successes to Leicester City Council include November 2009's clean up of the former Invincible Public House and June 2010's petitions for better parking provision on Kelso Green and for the residents in the bungalows of Hesketh Avenue and Runcorn Close to have better security to the communal garden.
