Action in Eyres Monsell Ward. Roche Close, Leicester Petition Update
The Eyres Monsell Liberal Democrat Focus Team are pleased the petition presented by Scott Kennedy-Lount and Tony Faithfull-Wright to the Full Leicester City Council meeting of November 2012 is being considered further by the Unitary Authority.
In correspondence received from Council Officers they have advised:
"In response to the petition the Council have estimated costs and options for new parking facilities; these range from £10250 for three spaces rising to £40000 for nine spaces.
The provision for parking has been submitted for consideration as part of the wider Transport and Local Environmental Works programme development. The City Mayor is currently consulting with local neighbourhood priorities before finalising the work programmes. Roche Close is one of a number of lay by requests from across the City that is being considered as part of this process.
Please also note that if the bid for Roche Close is unsuccessful this time around, the proposed scheme will remain on the list of suggested schemes for consideration when developing future work programmes."
Residents have been contacted by the Focus Team about the latest news; the team are delighted the scheme will remain on the list of suggested schemes for consideration at a future date. Focus Team members are aware Roche Close is only a small cul-de-sac however with car ownership increase, damage to vehicles by larger corporate vehicles and limited access for Emergency Services hope this project will be a priority.
