Bicram Athwal selected for Humberstone and Hamilton
The Leicester Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce that local resident and community activist Bicram Athwal has been selected as our candidate for the Humberstone and Hamilton by-election.
Bicram Athwal lives in the Nether Hall area of the ward. He works in social housing
and also runs a successful bar in the city centre. He is an active member of his local temple and community centre, giving him a unique perspective into the needs and challenges faced by people in the local community.
Bicram Athwal offers a real chance for change in Humberstone and Hamilton. With a degree in politics and international relations, Bicram has the both the knowledge and the skills needed to be a strong and powerful voice for local people in the Town Hall.
Chair of the Leicester Liberal Democrats, Nitesh Dave says "I am certain that by electing Bicram, the people of Humberstone and Hamilton will have gained a real champion. I know he is someone who will selflessly serve the community and will never be afraid to speak truth to those in power."
Popular Liberal Democrat Leicester City Councillor Councillor Nigel Porter adds, "Working together, Bicram and I will be abl
e to offer an even stronger opposition to the discredited City Mayor and his shambolic Labour clique. Opposition voices are needed now, more than ever, to ensure that council-tax payer's money is used as effectively as possible to put recovery first."
