Braunstone Gate Patch Walk

22 Nov 2005

A 'PATCH WALK' in the Braunstone Gate area of Leicester has been set

for Wednesday (Nov 23rd), when Cllr Mark Farmer, Leicester City

Council cabinet lead for crime and disorder will be joined by

representatives of the police, the community safety team and the local

area committee.

Those taking part will see crime reduction improvements in the area

made with £20,000 funding from the city council's crime and disorder

budget.

This investment is in addition to the money the city council is

putting into improved street lighting and CCTV cameras that are

currently being installed.

Said Cllr Farmer: "These patch walks are an important way of keeping

up with events and spotting potential problems."

Chair of the local Area Committee and Ward Councillor Andy Tessier said "We are investing a huge amount of money into this area. We will see first hand what needs to be done in the area"
