Cllr Metcalfe launches new grant scheme for homes in the Swainson Road Area

People in the Swainson Road area will be able to apply for grants and assistance to bring their homes up to up to the government's decent homes standard, following a decision by Leicester City Council.

The improvement area will make means tested home improvement grants up to £20,000 available to bring homes up to this standard.

The council will also carry out other general improvement works after consulting with residents.

Qualifying areas include all the houses in Brackley Close, Clevedon Crescent, Stockton Road, Thornville Close and Tunstall Crescent, as well as most of Swainson Road and some houses on Victoria Road East.

Councillor Andy Metcalfe, Cabinet Member for Housing said,

"Liberal Democrat led Leicester city council is committed to making significant improvements to the quality of people life's. This is another initiative which helps to reach this goal"

More details about the improvements, will shortly be posted out to local residents.
