Leicester Liberal Democrats express sincere congratulations to previous local party Chair Bernard Greaves who this afternoon was presented with the Liberal Democrats Presidents Award by Party President, Sal Brinton at the Autumn Federal Conference in Bournemouth.

Bernard has been at the forefront of LGBT+ campaigns for over 50 years and today was recognised for his tireless work. Bernard was at the forefront of putting Gay Rights as a policy in the Liberal Party in the 1970s (the first political party to do so at the time).

Bernard is co-author with Gordon Lishman of "The Theory and Practice of Community Politics" a key text of liberal campaigning and empowering communities printed in August 1980.
