Cllr Hashim Panchbhaya, the Lib Dem councillor for the area said, “This is part of the Liberal Democrat commitment to invest in parks."

Local people living in and around Spinney Hill Park will be consulted over the next few weeks to find out about their ideas for restoring the Park.

These ideas will form the basis for an application to the Parks for People programme for up to £2 million. The Parks for People programme is run jointly by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the BIG Lottery. Initial consultation has already taken place with park user groups. Now the council wants to hear from the wider community to find out their views on the park.

With the help of volunteers from the Friends of Spinney Hill Park, the city council will be talking to people in the park. Members of the public can take part directly with the online consultation at www.leicster.gov.uk/parks.

Cllr Hashim Panchbhaya, the Lib Dem councillor for the area said, "This is part of the Liberal Democrat commitment to invest in parks. Parks and green spaces are important for local communities, and we want to hear from local people about what they want for their local park".
