The Lib Dem led City Council's cabinet has agreed to spend £240,000 on much needed improvements to the Cossington Street swimming pool.

The improvements include new changing rooms and better access. Other spending will include the replacement of a children's library book bus, at a cost of £120,000.

Maintenance work is due to be carried out from March 12, when the centre will shut for eight weeks.

Local Lib Dem campaigner Josh Ramji said "This is fantastic news for the whole area and with the country hosting the 2012 Olympic Games, I believe this work is more important than ever."
