Eco Town Gets Vote Despite Concerns

Labour councillors have voted to conditionally support the controversial Eco-town, despite widespread protests from all sides last night.

Leicester Lib Dems put forward an amendment to the motion with concerns regarding the transport proposals, the Lib Dem amendment was supported by the Conservatives, Greens and Independent councillors but was voted down by the Labour group.

Liberal Democrat councillor for Knighton Gary Hunt told local press; "This proposal is a disaster for the city," and councillor Peter Coley the Liberal Democrat group leader, said there were "serious transport concerns".
