European Parliamentary Election 2019. How Leicester, and the wider East Midlands Region voted.

LLD

The Liberal Democrats finished in 2nd place in the East Midlands Region for the European Parliamentary Election held on Thursday 23rd May. This was enough to send Bill Newton-Dunn back to Brussels for the 7th time and the first time since 2014 after the count was announced in Kettering last evening. In the Leicester City Council Unitary Authority counting area, the Liberal Democrats polled in third place. To complete a month of misery in Leicester with the loss of their sole Councillor at the local elections, the Conservatives were pushed into 5th place.

Apart from our third place in Leicester, and topping the Regional Poll in Rushcliffe Borough, the Liberal Democrats were placed 2nd across other counting areas.
