Responding to the formal ending of the search by the Iraq Survey Group for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, Parmjit Singh Gill MP, Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Leicester South, said:

"This is the final nail in the coffin of the case for military action against Iraq.

"There was no 'real and present danger' nor was the threat 'serious and current'. Thousands of innocent people have lost their lives in a war undertaken on a flawed prospectus.

"It is time for the Government to acknowledge the truth."
