Zuffar Haq, the Chairman of Leicester's patients forum talked to the then Council leader, Roger Blackmore about cuts to the NHS last October.

Protesters have called on NHS bosses to publicly discuss their plans for Leicester's three hospitals.

They are concerned the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust board appears to be holding talks in private on what to do after the collapse of the £711 million Pathway project. The meeting is the first to be held after the board's decision to ditch the redevelopment of the city's three hospitals.

Liberal Democrat Zuffar Haq, chair of the Leicester Patients' Group, is also concerned that important discussions and decisions do not appear in the public domain. He told local press; "I am very concerned future plans are not being discussed by the board in the public part of the meeting."

A spokesperson for the University Hospitals of Leicester said it was trying to confirm the reason for the discussion, called Next Steps Review, to be heard in private.
