Has the Labour run Council got Something to Hide?
Western Park Lib Dem Councillor Roger Blackmore was back with a vengeance on the front benches of Leicester City Council after his year long break as Lord Mayor of Leicester.
Councillor Blackmore asked the Labour cabinet lead for Community Cohesion and Human Resources how many consultants were employed in the City Council and local schools over the last 12 months at pay rates of over two hundred and fifty pounds a day, only to be informed that he would have to wait three weeks for an answer.
The Labour run Council has been heavily criticized in the past from the Lib Dem benches on its use of consultants and the cost to the taxpayer.
Stoneygate Lib Dem Councillor Parmjit Gill continued the questions on consultants later in the evening. He said, "Time and time again, we have asked this council for cost details on their use of consultants and time and time again they give excuse after excuse on why they can't provide an answer, what are they hiding?".
