Inner Circle U-Turn

Inner Circle Cut

The inner circle bus route, which has run on a 15-mile loop around the city for decades, was planned to be dropped as a result of a Labour budget proposal to withdraw its subsidy. However due to public pressure the bus service will now continue to run during the day but will still be stopped during the evenings and weekends.

Your Liberal Democrat councillors across the City had asked Woods coaches if they might be able to operate some or all of the service on a commercial basis. Woods Coaches took over the inner circle route in 1998 after Kinchbus pulled out because of a driver shortage.

Cllr. Peter Coley, Leader of the Liberal Democrat group has signed a petition to keep the service running, he said, "I have been contacted by many residents who have said that this service will be missed, I am pleased to hear the service will now run during the day but what about those residents who need the service in the evenings?"
