The situation at De Montfort Hall has worsened as the Council's Cabinet Member responsible for the venue has been stripped of the responsibility amid allegations he attempted to improperly influence a disciplinary hearing involving its suspended manager.

Police and Council auditors launched an investigation into activities at De Montfort Hall after four Council employees were suspended in October last year. This happened after local press exposed massive cash losses and problems in management.

Liberal Democrat Group Leader Peter Coley is meeting the chief executive of Leicester City Council later today to discuss the issue.
