Labour Letting Leicester Children Down

LLD

It seems every time Ofsted inspects the Labour run City Council they always have bad news to give.

Children's services rated inadequate.

In 2015 Ofsted declared Council Children's Services to have "serious failiures" with services for children leaving care and children in need of protection being inadequate.

Worst performing in the country for Education.

In 2016, an Ofsted report on education across the East Midlands declared Leicester to be getting the worst performance in the country.

Lewis Hastie - Liberal Democrat Castle Ward Candidate at the forthcoming Leicester City Council by-election says: "Our children's services and schools face cuts from the Tory government and mismanagement from Labour on the Council.

Part of the problem is the lack of opposition on the Council to scrutinise Labour leadership."

In the Ofsted report of June 2016 Leicester was the worst perfoming local authority for pupil outcomes at the end of Early Years Development Stage with only 51% of children achieving a good level of development compared to 66% nationally.

The report author, Sir Michael Wilshire, Ofsted Chief Inspector in the report went on to say "...Leicester is home to the new Champions of English football. Yet, when it comes to education, its ambitions and achievements are decidedly second division."
