Labour run Leicester City Council: £200,000 grant given by Council bosses to upgrade building for a business which failed in Leicester.
The Liberal Democrat Councillor for Aylestone Ward, Cllr Nigel Porter has questioned if a restoration grant for £200,000 was money well spent in a Victorian building in the the City Centre which helped set up award winning Delilah Fine Foods in St Martins for use of the building and closed its doors last month after just 2 years in Leicester citing lack of customers.
Cllr Porter has concerns other restaurants and bars in the city have been put at a disadvantage who did not benefit from a council grant and the £200,000 could have been better spent on other projects in the area. Cllr Porter further suggests Labour in Leicester need to question how it backs businesses.
Delilah Fine Foods continues to trade in Nottingham.
