As the Public Consultation comes to an end on Sunday November 27th by Leicester City Council, for the Bulky Waste and DIY Consultation, Liberal Democrat PPC for Leicester West at the 2015 General Election, Ian Bradwell informs his concerns:

"This is currently a free service and am concerned if implemented there will be a cost implication for low income families, there will be environmental issues, for example attraction of vermin such as rodents and foxes from unattended waste, potential injury to children from protruding articles and if failed to be disposed of carefully potential dangerous gas issues from any refrigerated items and potential fly tipping."

Leicester City Council claim at present the service the Bulky Item Collection Service costs £360,000 and for DIY waste including the acceptance of plasterboard, wood and rubble for example costs £200,000.
