Leicester City Council to reduce city cleaning by 27%.

The Leicester Mercury reported yesterday bosses at Leicester City Council are set to cut city cleaning by 27% with the potential loss of 21 jobs.

Services which set to be cut include:

  • The axing of the Faeces Intake Disposal Operation (FIDO) which sucks up dog mess.
  • Reduction of Weekend Cleansing to Shop Frontages and Routes into the city
  • Review of the Grafitti Removal Team
  • Rethink of City Centre and District schedules.

The expected savings approved by the council are around £700,000 from its cleansing bill.
