Leicester's Liberal Democrats hit a Labour nerve. Leicester City Council to extend the Public Consultation on Leicester's Local Plan
After Leicester's Liberal Democrats received "scaremongering" accusations by prominent Labour Party members in Leicester during the recent Eyres Monsell By-Election concerning the Public Consultation for the Leicester Local Plan run by Leicester City Council; it has been announced by the Labour run City Council there is to be an extension of the Public Consultation until 17th December.
Originally the closure of the Public Consultation was due in September, then November 30th and now extended until December 17th.
Why another change of mind by the City Council to extend the consultation?
Have the public had sufficient information across the city to have an informed opinion to take part in the consultation? Residents in the recent Eyres Monsell By-Election said that they hadn't. If this is the case in one ward of the city, what is the situation in the other 21?
Would the consultation have been extended if the Liberal Democrats hadn't campaigned on the issue of potential developments in the Eyres Monsell By-Election?
Would Labour Councillors have raised their question at last nights City Council Full Meeting if the By-Election hadn't occured?
If as Labour described the Leicester Liberal Democrats of "scaremongering" during the by-election by extending the Public Consultation, the accusation is no longer valid.
