The Liberal Democrat notice of motion to the 4th July Council meeting proposes taking £10m from the £110m reserves that the Tory administration has stockpiled and use £6.5m to establish:
- Skills Fund to ensure that local businesses have a skilled workforce; and a
- Venture fund to invest in new companies and help established companies to expand.
At the same time the Liberal Democrats are proposing to use £3.5m to reinstate funding for PCSOs and provide additional resources for Highway's improvement (e.g Grass Cutting) and Public Transport.
Simon added: "these are proactive solutions that use the Councils resources to provide a boost to the local economy at a time when it is needed most, I urge the Tories to support this motion."
