Lib Dem success on pensioners bus passes
Lib Dem Councillors have announced a major success for pensioners in Leicester with the announcement that concessionary travel is to be re-instated for people travelling outside of the city.
Concessionary passes can be used on trains as well, thanks to the Lib Dem initiative. The move is designed to counteract the problems caused by the Labour Government's Post Office closures.
The Liberal Democrats have acted after listening to local pensioners concerns about post office closures in Leicester. Many local pensioners are concerned that they will have to travel considerable distances in order to reach their nearest post office.
Councillor Dean Ramsdale, Lib Dem Cabinet link to Transport, said: "The Liberal Democrats have shown that they are listening to local people.
"We have heard Leicester residents' concerns about having to travel miles to reach their local post offices because of Labour's closure program.
"This news will be a boost to many residents in Leicester and demonstrates the Liberal Democrats commitment to listening to local people, unlike Labour who for years have run roughshod over local residents."
