Lib Dem local campaigner Cllr Parmjit Gill today visited Eyres Monsell Community Centre with Shadow Cabinet Minister for Work and Pensions Steve Webb MP and local councillor Mark Farmer. The Lib Dem team met with local pensioners at the community centre for lunch to discuss community matters. Top concerns for local residents are the closure of local Post Offices and the Labour candidate's record of closing homes for the elderly in Leicester.

Lib Dem local campaigner Cllr Parmjit Gill said:

"Many local pensioners have simply had enough of Labour. They are fed up with the closure of their local post offices which are a valuable community asset. Labour's policy of supporting the closure of local Post offices is hitting Leicester's pensioners hardest."

The Community Centre has seen a number of improvements made to it under the Lib Dem led Leicester City Council administration, including having the car park resurfaced and a brand new entrance created. The Lib Dem led council is currently reviewing the centre so that the full potential of the centre can be used by the local community."

Lib Dem campaigner Cllr Gill added: "I am pleased to see that the Lib Dem led council are making the most of this centre, it is a real asset to the local community. Many local residents have told me how pleased they are with the improvements to the centre. The Liberal Democrats are committed to making this centre work for the Eyres Monsell community."
