Leicester Liberal Democrats have chosen their candidates for the General Election on 8 June:

Nitesh Dave is standing in Leicester East. Nitesh is a special needs teacher. He lives in the constituency.

The candidate for Leicester South is Harrish Bisnauthsing. Harrish is a computer engineer. For many years he took part in the organisation of the Rathayatra festival in Leicester.

Ian Bradwell is standing in Leicester West. Ian lives in the constituency and has lived and worked in Leicester all his life, He has worked in local community radio, was a resident director for the Braunstone Community Association and has chaired the Leicester Disabled Persons Access Group. He was Lib Dem candidate in Leicester West in 2015.

This election is a chance for the people of Leicester to prevent a hard Brexit. A vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote to prevent a hard Brexit and protect the local economy, the party's ocal chair, Alan Fox, has said today.

"The Liberal Democrats are standing on a clear platform to prevent a hard Brexit by staying in the Single Market, and to give the British people the final say on the Brexit deal through a referendum.

"This election is a huge opportunity for voters in Leicester to change the direction of our country and prevent a disastrous hard Brexit.

"Leicester is a vibrant and cosmopolitan European city. People here voted to remain in the EU, and certainly did not vote for the extreme form of Brexit that Theresa May is trying to impose, with the support of Labour.

"The Liberal Democrats are the real opposition to the Conservative Brexit Government. All three of the City's Labour MPs voted to trigger Article 50. The Liberal Democrats are fighting for a Britain that is open, tolerant and united.

"For all those who want to protect our local economy by staying in the Single Market and ensure the people have the final say over what comes next, this is your chance".
