Liberal Democrats Cllr Nigel Porter succeeds in pulling Mayor and Councillor Allowances off the Council agenda.

Whilst requesting this months Full Leicester City Council meeting to be postponed due to the current heightened health grounds concerning the Covid-19 pandemic/ public health emergency and the announcement the previous evening to avoid non-essential contact which was refused; Aylestone Ward Councillor Nigel Porter did succeed in removing from the Council Agenda debating a potential 4% increase in allowances.

Councillor Porter said "it was not on in the current climate to debate increasing the City Mayors salary by around 4% when a mulitutde of ordinary workers possibly without a viable income. Its totally ridiculous, as if the Mayors proposed pay increase is such a burning priority."
