Lib Dem led Leicester City Council has pumped in approximately £1.5 million into the Taylor Rd Primary School project after consultation with the local community to address the growing needs of the St Matthew's area.

Local Lib Dem Councillors lobbied the Cabinet Member, Cllr Hussein Suleman to support the principal Chris Hassal and the governing body who campaigned for a larger school.

Taylor Road Primary School, in St Matthew's, will now be rebuilt to serve 570 pupils instead of the 450 put forward under original plans.

Councillor Mustafa Karim said "We are very proud to be associated with the school and its management."
