A campaign by local residents backed by Knighton Councillor's Joan Garrity and Gary Hunt has ended in success when new toilet blocks for Knighton Park opened late last month.

The toilets have been built as part of the city council's £700,000 scheme to improve public toilets in Leicester. Thirty-five public conveniences across the city are being improved. The scheme includes refurbishment and new buildings, to bring facilities up to a modern standard.

These improvement works are being carried out in response to last year's MORI survey, which identified that city residents wanted better public toilets in the Leicester.

Cllr Garrity said, "I've been fighting for new toilets on the park for some years, I'm so glad that they have now been provided."
