LIB BEMS SAY NO TO NHS CUTS

Local Lib Dems protested against NHS job losses outside LRI over the weekend.

Nurse's and other NHS staff say they have actually been given a pay cut by the Labour Government after receiving a below inflation pay rise. They are accusing the Government of squandering the NHS and say quality of care is in jeopardy.

Campaigner Pratap Jethwa, who works for the NHS said, "Nurses are angry and demoralised, the rate we're going, we'll have no NHS left."

Union delegates representing thousands of Leicestershire health workers have already demonstrated outside the Leicester West MP's constituency office about the 'derisory' pay award and to oppose the loss of 1,500 jobs at Leicestershire hospitals.

Zuffar Haq, Chair of the Leicester Patients Group said, "Tony Blair said when he took power that we had 24 hours to save the NHS - here we are ten years later trying to stop him from destroying it."
