Councillor Parmjit Singh Gill, also the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Leicester South has attacked the Labour run Council for spending more of taxpayers money on consultants.

After questioning the Cabinet Lead responsible he and the rest of the Council were informed that the Labour run administration had spent over £6 million of taxpayers money on consultants this financial year, paying one £1784 on a daily rate.

Councillor Parmjit Singh Gill said, "How can the taxpayer have any confidence in this administration running the City, spending this much of their money on consultants."

Cllr. Gill's question to the Council this evening was:

"Given that in 2008/09 financial year the cost of external consultants to the taxpayer of this City had been a colossal £11.5m at the Council meeting in January. I asked the Cabinet Lead what the cost of external consultants had been so far for the 2009/10 financial year and what had been the highest amount paid on a daily basis to any one consultant?" He went on to say... "Worryingly, the Administration could not provide that information and the Cabinet Lead offered instead to provide a written response by the middle of February. Why is it that we are now at the end of March and I still don't have sight of the written response, how much has been spent to date and what has been the highest amount paid to any one consultant?"
