The Performance Plan for 2005/2006 has been released, detailing the council's performance over the last year and its aims for the coming financial year.

The plan shows the what action the council has taken in order to meet it's goals of improving services for local people in it's first year of office. Leicester Council's performance over the last year, as outlined in the plan, was deemed by government inspectors to be excellent and saw the council awarded a four star rating. Leicester Council is one of a select few administrations to be awarded such an accolade and is therefore, officially, one of the best councils in the country!

The council's main aims for 2006 - 2007 are to improve educational standards and promote environmental development. Such goals will be achieved in accordance to already stated aims of sustainable development, building community cohesion, preserving the past, increasing the opportunities available to the disabled, regenerating Leicester city center and promoting increased employment.
