Roche Close Residents concerns over Emergency Vehicle Access in Eyres Monsell Ward, Leicester
During the summer the Eyres Monsell Liberal Democrat Focus Team (EMLDFT) received complaints from residents in Roche Close that parking facilities were not adequate in their small close within the centre of the Eyres Monsell Estate.
Previous Liberal Democrat Ward Councillors successfully introduced new parking measures between 2003 and 2007 within the estate including Roche Close. Residents are now concerned that emergency vehicles and City Council Refuge Collectors cannot access the street properly due to the rise in car ownership and visitors within the close. In one incident recently an ambulance had to drive along a large grassed area adjacent to Ebchester Road in order to reach their patient. Vehicles have been known to have received inadvertent damage due to current space.
Current campaigner Scott Kennedy-Lount was pleased to spend time discussing the current issue with residents on the doorsteps and in the street as a group witnessing for himself the constraints that residents have.
The EMLDFT have since conducted a street survey with the results and follow-up letters cumulating in approrpriate action.
