School Watch at Avenue Primary
Avenue Primary School located on Avenue Rd Extension in Clarendon Park became the latest school to join 'School Watch'.
School Watch is a formal association between schools and their immediate community which have proven effective in reducing local crime.
1 Giving early warning of suspicious activity through an established messaging system
2 Providing a link with local police beat officers and a means of sharing news of crime trends and crime prevention developments.
3 Improving the safety of our school children and protecting them from dangers likely to be encountered when travelling to and from school.
4 Encouraging schools, parents and pupils to be more aware and alert to the dangers confronting our children.
School Watch will only truly be successful if the safety lessons, taught at school are reinforced by parents in their homes. Both parents and pupils must be alert to current dangers and encouraged to report incidents coming to notice promptly to the Police.
HOW SCHOOL WATCH WORKS....
Reporting Of Incidents/Suspicious Behaviour
School Watch is concerned with any incident or situation, which may threaten the safety of our school children. We are primarily concerned with the threat from the would-be abductor or molester but road safety, dangerous play, drug abuse and vandalism problems also come within the scope of the scheme.
In urgent cases or any cases of doubt, always use the emergency 999 procedure to ensure a faster police response. In other instances where information is more dated, or in situations which may not require an immediate police response, then telephone the local Police Station.
