Out of £40,000 provided by the City Council in its budget for improvement to Community Safety for the city, local Lib Dem Councillors secured £20,000 to be used in St. Matthew's Estate, which has been identified as one of the most deprived areas in Leicester.

After consultation with the Area Forum and the tenants association a number of proposals have been made to improve safety in the area.
