Cllr Debbie Almey visits the Sunday Market.

The new Sunday market was staged for the first time at Leicester's Walkers Stadium yesterday.

More than 350 stalls sold food and drink, flowers, jewellery, arts and crafts. It will also featured butchers, a baker, and stands selling everything from gardening equipment and pet supplies to fishing equipment and bicycles.

Children's rides were also present, and a large car boot sale completed the market.

The market was open to the public from 7am, free car parking was and will be available in future at Raw Dykes Road and the old Filbert Street site. Car boot sellers can arrive from 6.30am.

Cllr Debbie Almey the Castle Ward Councillor visited the market to see for herself if there was any problems with parking in the Filbert Street area of Castle Ward. Debbie said, "It's nice to see the site being used as a market and for fund raising for charity.", She went onto to say that if any residents have any problems with connection to the market then they should contact her on 0771 4343 693.

To book one of the few stalls remaining, contact 07890 663617.
