Work has now started to turn Saffron Lane Sports Stadium back into an athletics centre of excellence. A new track and field athletics investment programme is being put into place, which will include purpose built double storey changing accommodation, helping to make Saffron Lane a pure athletics centre, offering the very best provision for Leicester's athletes to train and compete, hopefully in preparation for 2012.

The lifestyle fitness suite and the loose weights gym will be moved to the Aylestone Leisure Centre, equipment and staff will be transferred and ready for customers by the New Year.
